I haven't been inspired lately, so it was suggested I unwind with a glass of wine and just let it flow. Here's what I'm thinking about.
People, do not leave the political education of your children to the schools. I know that friends are sometimes surprised at the things my children say. Today, in school, my 11 year old daughter was asked to use one of her vocab words in a sentence. She replied,
"Fraud, Acorn is accused of voter fraud in Vegas. Fraud."
Now, I did not know she would be using this word. I didn't even know it was a vocab word. (I am not a good mother, I don't do their homework for them.) However, some will accuse me of indoctrinating my daughter. Okay, true enough. If you call instilling my values and beliefs into my own children indoctrination.
However, these kids do not parrot me. The same daughter was told by a classmate "Bush lied, people died." My Kate asked this girl to explain and was met with a hostile stare. So Kate, (like her mother, loving a political fight.), tried to get a discussion going on why Bush went to war and why war is sometimes necessary. This did not go over well, as you can imagine, if you, yourself, have ever tried to talk reason to a Liberal. See, that young lady was parroting what her parents say. No logic or thought behind it.
We do talk about Government, political parties, and history very frequently. My husband is very knowledgeable about the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. We ask the kids questions about what is right and wrong. We try to explain things in children's terms. I gave an idea for this in an earlier post.
Once, a dear Conservative friend told us that he did not want to confuse his child with all of this. Perhaps it is too serious a topic for those so young. I think that if you don't teach them, there are plenty who will and you won't like what your child learns. In schools, you will learn about Eco-crap, gay marriage (loved by divorce lawyers everywhere.), how to put on condoms and how it is great to give all your earnings to the Government, who will care for you and see you get what you deserve. (You bet you will.)
You raise your angels in your religion, don't you. Whether Catholic, Lutheran or Jewish, even atheist, you want your kids to follow in your path. So teach them your political values as well. It is easier to talk about then sex or drugs.
If you don't talk to your kids about Liberals, who will?

Good topic!
Sad to say but one of the primary reasons that we are where we are is the dumbing down/liberal indoctrination that our children have been subjected to in the schools. A majority of today's young folks have unwittingly been sucked into the Algorian mindset & have no idea how easily they can be & are manipulated.
In the absence of parental guidance & concern, they mature; become voters; support the politically correct bilge that their mentors place on the front burner, front page or whatever.
If we (parents & grandparents) don't enlighten them, they will never comprehend the perspective that led to the creation of America & the values that made her great.
