So, some mushy moderates think, in order to win, we need to be more like them. Hmmm....um, no.
When we become moderate, we lose! That is why we lost THIS election! Oh, please, are you going to tell me that Mc Cain was too conservative? He practically handed the election to Obama! (actually there are rumors that he did...he didn't want to try too hard to beat the black guy, rumors, you understand, but you did not hear it from me.)
Look, if Republicans want to win, we have to stand for something. You don't win by saying, "Well, yes, you have a point, but, so does he. Let's just wait and see."
You win by stating firmly what you think and then proving it everyday by your actions. Shades of Ronald Reagan perhaps? (Oh, I miss that man!)
In our lives, most of us thoughtful people know what we think. We'd like a candidate that does too. It seems that many of those in office are in, strictly for what power and prestige it gives them. What happened to being servants of the people?
If you want to win votes, you must clearly articulate that you are in agreement with the majority of people and then DO it. Moderate Republicans tend to say one thing and then vote with their buddies on the left. I am sick of that. That is why Republicans are losing! Most of us are annoyed with you guys telling us one thing during the election and then doing the opposite when in power. That is infuriating to many of us on the right...and to many who vote in good faith. We have a right to expect that you, as elected officials, will do as you promised. (Term Limits, anyone?)
It is like this. The Drive-By Media wants Republicans to believe this latest line of garbage, because it is in their interest as Liberals. Please, don't be fooled again!

I do not believe in term limits. They are wrong. They are government over-extending their boundaries even more.
The founding fathers meant for people to be elected for one term, and then return to their NORMAL LIVES. These were hard-working men, not men on the government dole with no work to return to. No family to return to!
No term limits. We get the bozos we vote for, or should I say, the liberals vote for and then we have to suck it up and live with it for whatever the term is.
You are absolutely correct. I really had a difficult time with that sentence about Term Limits and I guess I meant it tongue-in-cheek. Term Limits would also be a bad thing, if WE ever get a good guy in. (from my lips to God's ears.)
I don't admit to being wrong often, (ever), but this time, you got me!
Term limits are certainly a severe encroachment of the people's sovereignty -- if we want to vote for the same person again and again, we should have that right.
Other countries ban whole political parties from the election process -- such restrictions must never be considered lightly.
But, that being said... remember that ALL of government is an encroachment on popular sovereignty, by definition. Government confiscates too much of our money in taxes, restricts our liberty too much through regulations, and limits our potential too much by crushing a once-booming economy through idiotic "stimulus programs"...
So we have to balance it. When conservatives term-limit themselves -- as did John Kasich and Margy Parcells, for example -- it's a bad thing, because we lose a good representative and the Dems don't lose anybody because they don't do it.
But if we could ever get term limits across the board -- say, ten years for the House and twelve years for the Senate, with no grandfathering to postpone implementation for a century...
Then yes, I think it would be very much a "lesser of two evils" and therefore, on balance, be good for the country.
