As you know, I am not in the business of hawking products. I was surprised to get a note from a company named Country Bob, Inc., to ask me to try their steak sauce and review it! It was my pleasure to do this.
So last week, I made a few of the recipes, using the Original Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce. I first made the World's Greatest Burger. My kids were happy, because, to me hamburgers are summer food. Well, we got out the grill pan. (Not warm enough for outdoor grilling, it was 8 below zero, global warming, you understand!) Now, you are wondering, were they the world's greatest? My middle daughter and I were in heaven. She wished that I had made a few more, as it was, she ate one and a half burgers and that is a great deal for an 11 year old! My husband enjoyed them immensely, but my pre-teen said they were okay. Well, ya' gotta understand pre-teens.
Yesterday, we had guests and I made the Shrimp Cocktail Sauce. Now, here was a success right down the line. The sauce was wonderful! It had just the right amount of zing and it was great to make the sauce myself, rather than buy it bottled!
I chose to make recipes, rather than use it separately, because, in these days of tight budgets, I wanted to see if the sauce could fit smoothly into meal planning. It did that nicely, and the next recipe I am going to try is the Corn Pone Pie.
As a conservative woman, I am very supportive of entrepreneurs. I want to encourage everyone to give Country Bob's a try. I know that here in Illinois, you can get the sauce at Garden Fresh stores. You see, the company was started in 1982, by a bunch of friends, who realized they had made a great product and wanted to share it. Their corporate offices are here in Illinois, Centralia, to be precise.
Their slogan reads "Christ is our CEO." Need I say more? Give this sauce a try. Check out the website. You can get a free bottle for yourselves. Stop giving your money to Teresa Heinz!
